Business Profile

Bubal Investments Limited achieved prominence as an engineering services provider following the successful completion of contracts awarded by, inter alia, United Nations agencies including FAO, UNSOA/UNSOS, and UNICEF; and other clients to build airstrips, roads, culverts, bridges, and slaughterhouses, as well as rehabilitate irrigation infrastructures in the agricultural regions of Somalia. The company has also undertaken civil construction projects for private companies and individuals. At the end of 2013, the company landed two major water supply and sanitation services contracts awarded by the United Nations Office for Support of AMISOM (UNSOA). Those two contracts were:

1. Provision of Water Supply and Sanitation services in UN/AMISOM camps in Mogadishu, Baidoa, Beletweyne, Baledogle, and Jowhar.
2. Installation of UN-provided 100,000 liter steel water tanks in Mogadishu, Baidoa, Beletweyne, Baledogle, and Jowhar.

The first contract was for the installation of supply and sanitation infrastructure for sector hub camps used by the African Union troops and UN staff working in Somalia. The second contract was related to the first; it was for the construction of reinforced concrete slabs and installation of 100,000 liter steel water tanks for fresh potable water on the concrete slabs.

In April 2017, Bubal Investments entered into an even bigger contract with Somalia Stability Fund (SSF) and Adam Smith International for the construction of 3km Baraawe town airstrip with 2km runway, turning pads, taxiway and apron. The project also includes a terminal building. The airstrip is meant to improve communication within and without Somalia for UN agencies, African Union Missions and the Southwest Administration and the Federal Government of Somalia. It is part of wider plan to stabilize and revitalize a region that has become notorious for militant activity and economic stagnation. In November, 2018 Bubal Investments was awarded a contract by UNICEF (United Nations Children Fund) to drill, develop, equip and commission deep boreholes in Baidoa, a project that is now nearing completion.
